Translation
I first met Dr. Dashti in 1993, when my father bought an import permit for a car from him for five hundred thousand tomans, and with that permit we imported a Toyota for his own personal use. From that time onward, given my job and my responsibilities at Yazd University, I had a great deal of contact with him. My best memory goes back to 2022, when I was living in America and traveled from Michigan to California with my wife and son to visit him, and we were guests of him and his kind wife for several days. Whatever I say about the hospitality of him and his good and kind wife, Mrs. Golkarieh, would still fall short. At UC Irvine he had rented a small plot of farmland from the university, where he grew tomatoes and other summer vegetables, and almost every day we would go there together to pick the ripened produce and water the garden. At that time the doctor occasionally had minor heart trouble, and after two years he decided to move to the city where his daughter, grandchild, and family lived. There he underwent that fateful surgery at the hospital, contracted an infection from the operating room, and was never able to regain his health, until this sorrowful event came to pass. Two days before his passing, he sent me a piece of music with a song by an unknown singer, the content of which spoke of farewell and so on, which I posted in his memory on my own Instagram page, @mahmudkhodadad. May his soul be joyful and his memory eternal.
